How HEC Applications Work
Watch the portal
Calls appear on HEC’s scholarship portal and in national newspapers, often with short windows.
Check the criteria
Age, CGPA, years of education, field restrictions and quotas vary by programme.
Take the test
Many programmes ask for an HEC-recognised test such as HAT, GAT or GRE, or their own test.
Apply online
Upload attested transcripts and degrees, CNIC, domicile and a research or study plan.
Interview
Shortlisted candidates face a panel. Be ready to defend your research plan clearly.
Bond and departure
Overseas awards usually carry a service bond in Pakistan after you return.
HEC Scholarship Questions
01Where do I apply for HEC scholarships?
On HEC’s online scholarship portal. Each programme has its own call, criteria and deadline.
02Does HEC nominate for foreign scholarships?
Yes. HEC runs the Pakistani nomination process for several government scholarships, including the Chinese Government Scholarship, Stipendium Hungaricum and Commonwealth Scholarships.
03Do HEC overseas scholarships have a bond?
Most overseas PhD awards require you to serve in Pakistan for a set period after returning. Read the bond terms carefully before you accept.
04Can TeamOnline apply for me?
You apply yourself on the HEC portal. We help you choose the right programme, prepare documents, plan the research proposal and practise for the interview.
